This home was kept in true existing condition from the original 1959 design. Prior to our project, the kitchen was clad with orange-tone wood paneling with matching cabinets and fur downs. It had a small breakfast room on the far side of the kitchen, next to a utility room which made the footprint of the kitchen smaller. Our design removed the heavy orange-toned wood, and replaced it with warm and light paint colors, and cabinets up to the ceiling with accent glass front cabinets. Light colored, limestone-look, flooring brightens the space even more. All finishes in this project are light, warm, and have an authentic texture to create a classic and casual feel. We removed the breakfast room usage and instead added french doors to allow more natural light into the kitchen as well as create connectivity between indoors and the great outdoor patio area. Instead of a separate breakfast area, a peninsula offers seating at bar height for entertaining and little ones eating near the kitchen and allows the kitchen footprint to expand throughout the whole space. The utility room was transformed into a walk-in pantry filled with both closed and open storage. A mixed solution of prefab and custom cabinetry allows maximum performance in this dreamy pantry.
